Audience feedback:

I presented my magazine front cover to many of my family members and friends and her was some of the feedback i got from this:

Positive feedback was that the main feature image does catch the eye as it is large and as the page isnt to busy. I was also told that the colours all worked very well together as they were all linked and look very professional and classy.

some negative feedback was that all-though the feature images did stand out the front cover did need a few more pictures to do with other stories in the magazine because the public are more likely to buy it if they can see visually what is in the magazine. Also as the colours do work together nicely it may not be the right colours to make the magazine stand out because the blues are very dark and deep.

I had a very big problem with trying to transfer my music magazine from the apple mac i was working on to my blog because when i changed the software to export onto the windows system it the changes my page around and didn't look the way i wanted it to like how i created it on the mac.

Evaluation of creating my foundation production.

After all the planing and researching i then had to put all of this to work and put all my ideas and findings together and create my foundation production. The programme i used to do this was pages on the apple mac. I had never used a mac or pages before so it took a long time to get used to it but once i did i found it was a lot quicker and more advanced than doing my foundation production any other way. Pages enables me to use many different fonts, shading, layering of pictures and much more to make my foundation production look very professional.

when working on my front cover, i first chose to use a dark blue background with a cut out of my band member in the centre but then decided it was more effective if i used the picture as a whole as the background with a Silver Title with a dark blue border behind. I also had a dark blue column across the middle and bottom of my magazine cover. The main colours used on my front cover are dark blue, light blue, red and silver. All these colours stand out and work well together.

What i found the hardest to do was coming up with the features and regulars for contents page as you may be able to tell from my final piece. I had ideas in my head but didn't know how to right it down in my contents page. However looking at other music magazines and other contents pages helped me out a lot because it showed me how to put what i had in my head, down on pages and gave me better ideas. This also comes back to research again which makes a big difference because it gave me ideas on how to lay out and plan my contents page.

My double page spread ties in well with my Front cover and contents page because iv used the same colours and same feature pictures throughout. My double page spread is a question and answer session with Jason one of the main singers in the band Atmosphere. I chose to do this because in every magazine you read, whether its music, film or celeb, there's always a juicy interview between a journalist and celebrity and its always the bit in the magazine i go to fist.

For my photo shoot i chose a friend josh to pose for me and be my band member as his style is very like the style of the band member i had in my head. i took around 50 photos and narrowed it down to my favourite 10 before editing them on ipicture and then putting them onto my pages. Editing is very important when making a magazine because that's what people look at first, on ipicture i was able to change the effect, the pose and get rid of any blemishes for the cleanest sharpest look.

Over all im very happy with my final foundation productions and have learnt alot from how to use and manage a blod to how to edit pictures use a program such as pages.

Evaluation of research.

Whilst doing research i compared magazine covers and DPS's with different music magazines, film magazines and gossip magazines i found on the internet and ones i had bought personally. In my head i had an idea about what i wanted for my foundation production front cover which was a couple on the front which were a band and also a romantic couple. So then i found more covers online which were similar to what i had in my head and published them on my other blog. Much of the research I carried out was primary and involved asking people what looks good on a magazine cover, also the detail they like to find inside.

Evaluation of planning

When planning for my Foundation Production, I had to consider the main target we were given which was to make a music magazine which would be bought in stores and then develop my ideas from that brief. The first step of my planning was to do quick pencil sketches of all my ideas i had in my head and keep building up ideas from them (pics on my other blog) to then finally become the final front cover, contents page and DPS. I ended up coming up with lots and lots of new ideas which then meant that my final piece, especially my front cover changed quite a bit from my first initial idea.

My aim for my magazine was for it to be aimed at people from 16 to 40 both male and female, I believe i have been successful in keeping to this aim as my pages all the way through is fun and colourful, yet not to complicated or filled with to much writing. I have also used stories and headlines to draw the young adults/adults to the magazine with juicy interviews they cant miss out on.

Evaluation.

My foundation product is similar to real media products, such as having a masthead at the top so the public can see which magazine it is they are looking at etc. I have also explored a vast arrange of different text styles, colours, shading, angles and pictures throught my pages.Altogother i have compleated a front cover, Contents page and double page spread.
